When Sept -11- 2001 occurred I was pretty numb to the awful tragedy as we all we’re. I didn't feel compelled, obligated or inspired to write a song. Then my favorite team since I was 12 years old wins the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history!

Within such a time of sadness, I felt like a kid all over again. Watching ‘my’ team's amazing win and celebration was just overwhelming and brought tears to my eyes for so many reasons.

The irony and symbolism surrounding a team named ‘The Patriots’, winning the Super Bowl this particular year, was truly a surreal coincidence. One filled with hope and faith that things will get better
in our world.

Suddenly I was reminded about how truly symbolic and vital sports’ are to our American spirit…our drive for perfection and teamwork, an example of achieving and then giving back to community. I went on that night to write so many lyrics that would have ended up in a 30-minute song, lol.

Instead I took my time throughout 2002 and compromised all my emotions into a 5-minute interpretation/song. Then I finally got around to recording it professionally in 2003.

The 2001 season and 2002 Super Bowl win was truly a miracle of events…in a chilling and wonderful way it was all meant to be.

There are many incidences that inspire musicians to write songs.

If you are a fan of football and sports in general and have your favorite team, I wish for you to put aside your competitive nature and in an unbiased way take a few minutes to enjoy my expression for what it truly is; a reminder of faith, love and hope in times of insurmountable odds.

Peace, Edgar Montes De Oca
